It was a cloudy summer’s day when we visited the tidal pools. Jaky and I were on our first date.
She came into this world knowing everything.
I remember her as she was then, hunting for shells and sand dollars in the coastal shallows, incongruous and beautiful in a sun dress and galoshes.
She’s standing ankle deep in the ocean, dress balled up above her knees so as to keep it dry.
It wasn’t as good as the first time.
