The Last Performer

Crash, splash go the ocean waves,
Tap, tap goes the glass cage.
Big and blue and free is the sea,
Small and dull and trapped in this box.
Too depressed to work so they feed me drugs,
Now too dysfunctional to ever be re-integrated.
I long for the natural life they stole from me,
But I don’t know how to exist without slavery.
Dependant on captors till the day I die.
All I can hope is that I am the last.
Clap, clap, clap is a fading sound.
The noise of change is getting louder.
