An Elephant Update…
Hello, Elephant Readers…
Things are going to be a bit weird here at Elephant Words over the next few weeks, and it seems like a good idea to explain the what and how and why of it all, so that it doesn’t completely perplex and confuse.
The “what” is that the site is going on hiatus until the new year – hopefully very early in the new year – and will be back with the same excellent daily writing inspired by weekly images that it has always (tried to) have!
The “how”, specifically, is that from now until our righteous return, I’ll be reposting old pieces – so you’ll still have something to read! – starting with three posts of mine that were actually requested, if you can believe that! I’m hoping that when we return, it will be with a week of pieces inspired by this image:
(…And if you’re a writer, or even if you don’t think of yourself as a writer but this image gets you thinking, please get in touch with me at popacapa (at) gmail dot com! We’re always looking for more writers!)
The “why” is that simply put, it’s always quite hard to keep a site full of fully original, daily writing going over the Christmas period, and this year it seems to have been particularly rough at the site. So I’m gathering feedback about why that might be, and will be trying to address some of the challenges we’re facing right now with some very slight course-correcting.
(One thing that has come out of preliminary contact with the writers is that more feedback would be gratefully received, so if you read and enjoy – or even don’t enjoy – any of the posts, please do consider leaving a comment, either here on the site or over on Facebook/Twitter, the authors would be really grateful.
Anyway, that’s that. Please comment in the thread below if you have any questions or feedback of your own, or if you’d rather not have your thoughts in public, here’s that address again: popacapa (at) gmail (dot) com.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2016, and writing for you and ourselves all year!
