Hayfever’s End

On this the fifteenth day of August in the year of 2115 we gather together to witness a turning point in the history of mankind.
This day, this holy day, marks the day that the human race finally triumphs over nature. Since our first ancestors came down from the trees and walked on two legs those four and a half millions years ago, to the moment two hundred thousand years ago when the first members of our own species emerged, to the present day, mankind has striven to assert its dominance over the natural world.
This is the day we win.
This is the day we tell this earth, our home, that it belongs to us and no other.
This is the day we pave the final bare patch of the planet’s surface.
This is the day we declare: Earth is ours!
