Night/Light

Citizen!
Do not look directly into the light. If you are a good citizen — if you are innocent — you have nothing to fear from the light.
The light knows who you have spoken to. It knows where you are going at this hour, in the dead of night. The light sings to the circuit-board in your brain, and your brain sings back.
The light knows your most intimate perversions. It knows your fears, and you must understand that they have been recorded. You are a matter of public record, just like everyone else.
This is your cue. You will drop to the ground when the light hits you. You will do your public duty.
Do not fear the light. That only makes it worse.
Citizen, do you remember when you were birthed? You looked up at the light, and you were blinded for a moment, and you were judged. We gave you a name and a station — we gave you purpose and strength of will. And on that day, we sent you into the dark, dark world to be our guide. We burned away the shadows, and you followed them out; out into the night.
It’s time to come home. We love you. The light loves you.
When I say the word, I want you to look directly into the light.
You’ve done a very good job. We think you’re ready. Listen very carefully and do exactly as I say.
Three.
Two.
One.
