Waiting

I looked into the old elephant’s eyes and saw the same sadness and tiredness evident in my own old eyes. We are both near to the end of our journeys. We wait. We breathe. We observe. We sleep. Waking requires so much effort. Soon we’ll both be gone and forgotten. In my younger days I would have been frightened by that prospect but I welcome it. I’m ready and so is the elephant.

Pearl Grey
Pearl Grey fled America in 2008 and followed a little star in the sky until she reached London which seemed like a decent place to stay for a while.
She can be found toiling in the City and pottering around Walthamstow.
