The Walk

Yippee we’re going to the forest!   A new harness and a new lead? Oh wow!

I wish I was bigger so I could cover your face in kisses!

Oooooh the forest smells amazing!   Sniff, sniff, sniff. Mmmmm dog butts. Mmmmm horse poop. Nice.

This is the best day ever!

John, John, John, John, look there’s a muddy puddle.  I must investigate it right now! Pleeease John!

I’m off the lead. Wow!  Freedom! Mud, water, sticks, stones, more dog butts.

That tree over there is falling over.  Neat.  I’ll investigate. That was a loud bang. Run John! Ruuuun!

Whew I can’t hear the bang anymore. We’re safe.

John? Where are ya big guy? I don’t hear you calling me. You usually call out to me when we get separated.

I can’t find your scent anywhere.

John, did you leave me?  Please come back. You’re my favourite human.

I’m hungry. I want a cuddle. It’s getting dark. I’m scared.

Sniff, sniff, sniff, oh dear.

Hey stranger can you help me find my human, John? He smells like soap and he’s carrying my new lead.  Hello? Oh never mind. Sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff.

This smells familiar. Sniff, sniff, sniff.  Aaaah, that muddy puddle. Yes, just a hint of Labrador butt with a fragrant note of Jack Russell, and plenty of sticks and stones.

Goodie it’s the parking lot. Sniff, sniff, sniff.

Oooh, there’s that familiar mix of soap, gum, petrol, and sweaty trainers. This must be our car!  I’ll wait right here.

Oh hey John it’s me, Max! Remember me? I’m not sure how long it’s been. You seem upset. I’ll lick your face until you feel better.

Mmm, yeah pat my head. Thanks, John!  Ohhh you’re scratching behind my ears. Nice. You seem happier. Mmmmm, sniff, sniff, sniff.  Aaah yeah it really is you.

This is the best day ever!
