Time For Tea

I love a good cup of tea. Every day starts with a mug of the stuff and if I’m in a situation where I can’t have my morning cuppa, I’m out of sorts for most of the day.
I remember when there was always a pot of tea on the go. A proper pot of tea-loose leaves, a warm pot and a strainer. Back when I always left some tea at the bottom of my cup because of the stray leaves.
Question: Milk? Before or after? (depends who it’s for)
Metallica headlining ‘Download’ in 2006 (polystyrene cup)
A friend’s wedding reception-on the dance floor (cup and saucer)
Multiple lay-bys the length and breadth of the UK (a flask lid)
Somewhere over the Atlantic when I had raging tonsillitis (a cup without a saucer)
Turkey-anywhere in the shade (a beautiful glass cup with no handle)
A caravan surrounded by rabbits (1970’s design chipped coffee cup)
In bed when I’ve woken up way too early on a Saturday morning (a variety of mugs depending on my mood)
…Just some of the MANY places I have enjoyed a cup of tea!
Tea and biscuits-pure bliss…although I do prefer my rich tea dunked in coffee!
Making time for tea. I rarely ever do this. Yes, I make tea all day long, but the ceremony of it has gone. I reach for a bag, toss it in a mug and add hot water. The teapot is hidden at the back of the cupboard with the milk jug. One day soon I am going to take out all of the props and end the dress rehearsal with a standing ovation for the beautiful performance that is a pot of tea. Savoured during the middle of the day for no other reason than I’m still in my pyjamas at 2pm.
