All Fall Down

He carefully placed the pieces one on top of another, taking care to balance them just so. He considered each one carefully, its size and shape, how it intersected with the other pieces, its form, its feel.
For a moment he sat back and admired his handy work and allowed himself the briefest smile.
Then he watched it topple and fall into nothing.
With a sigh he picked up another piece and slowly started to build again.
