  3. Great picture. One of the best. Doesn’t mean I’ll come up with a story that does the picture justice, but wow, one can think of a hundred things evoked by this image.

  4. Held up in a hall too bright to hide the fullness of feeling
Of 18 and 20 in a spin to deep to pull out, on her life his scar was cut
Tomb on tomb in a war where the love of one lost lies lost
Never to feel again, ne’r to taste nore see in fullness
Hanging in silence, soup on bread and sustenance only for the body
Crushed to regret in unspoken time that passes
Sat at the dinner table alone, night on night
The shoes she wore removed from feet from time from the world we feel
Never to see the light of day
From ache to pain and pain to peace, the shoes will be wore once more
A journey ‘pon grass ‘pon rock ‘pon sand
Removed for the last dance to the water where the dance began

  5. Thank you all so so much for your comments. It’s been an absolute joy having you all write for my image this week. And an extra contributor too!

The photo is one of my own(copywrite b.gillespie), taken in Ireland in the spring 2007
