Truly one of Elephant Words' best. Once again, you recreate a folk legend, but at the same time this is a classic ghost story. A classic "haunting on the hill" type tale. And the children's rhyme at the end is chilling and brilliant. Each of the stories contained here could have made a whole story unto itself. Or, conversely, some writers would have taken an entire novel to weave the ghost story that you have successfully crafted here in under 2,000 words A perfect Halloween-week story.
