Thank you, Rivka. I'd have liked a bit more time to have maybe changed the style of each story, give them a bit of age and separation from each other, but time was against me.

I'm glad the rhyme is popular - I started with that and worked my way backwards.

This is one of your best stories, Andrew. Truly one of Elephant Words' best. Once again, you recreate a folk legend, but at the same time this is a classic ghost story. A classic "haunting on the hill" type tale. And the children's rhyme at the end is chilling and brilliant.

Each of the stories contained here could have made a whole story unto itself. Or, conversely, some writers would have taken an entire novel to weave the ghost story that you have successfully crafted here in under 2,000 words

A perfect Halloween-week story. And now it's almost Thanksgiving, I'm so late in commenting, and I apologize.

Cyn - thank you. I really wasn't sure about this one, as it was written in a rush on the Sunday, while packing for a week away. I'm glad you liked it. (Also, I've been waiting to use this title for WEEKS!)
