The Task At Hand

Surveying the scene, I wonder:
Is there anything more evocative than the sight of a child’s toys, neatly arranged, and sprayed erratically with blood?
I consider this for a few more moments, then set to the task at hand.

I had a “Holy Shit” moment, when I read this. I was at first kind of sad that you didn’t write a longer story, because your stories are always so good. But then, as it turns out, this is an entire story. In three sentences.
