One of those stories that could almost be a "funny" story, like a long and involved joke, but remains on the "serious" side of the fence. Reminds me of "To Serve Man." Also brings to mind all the ponderous and narrow-minded teachers I've had over the years. And some bosses, too. No, five doesn't equal five ... 1 + .5 + 2 + 1.5 = 5. Geez.
