Made To Be Broken.
The glass is cold / and will not warm / it simply takes his heat / and loses it / magics it away / leaving him frozen here / a statue of himself / though badly cast / and filled with sadness / and some anger / that those most loved / never get to hear farewell / as if it were a price to pay / a unexpected surcharge / on an unexpected bill / and it’s all he can do / all he can do / to look at his hands / that have betrayed him / that have acted with another mind / that he neither knows or understands / and not think them lost / not work to strike them from his arms / as a penance / a precaution / but yet remembers that / in their time / they did tousle / and hug / wipe away tears / and do good things / and act as part of him / not as strangers / with a grip he could not have / and leave him here / dark and cold / in the unknown night / with his tattered world behind him / a life he made / with love / now ruined / and wondering why it should be / that everything / everything / that is precious / is always the most easily broken
